Has anyone been getting more missed spam than usual? That is, spam that winds up in your regular comments folder.
I should have taken a screenshot of one of these messages–most seem to be coming from the same source. They include a “trackback” to a blog post but are not from a legitimate source.
I’m wondering why Akismet isn’t picking these up. Next time I get one I’ll put a screenshot of it here.
I’ve been lucky only 5 spams in 2 months, I have to keep checking the spam folder as often non spam comments will end up there.

Do you use Akismet spam blocker? You can set it up (like I have) so you can still review your spam, because sometimes legit comments will go in there if they contain links

I think it’s akismet, it’s the one that came with wp when I first signed up 🙂

I got killed by spam recently from a post of OMs that I reblogged. At least it was appropriate and Asian spam….ugh.

I have no idea but if amount of spam is determined by how much traffic a site gets, then reblogging anything by OM would probably generate lots of spam

I’m getting less, a lot less. I used to get hundreds every few days, now 6? in a few days time? Weird.

It goes up and down, I have no idea why some days you get no spam at all and the next you get 100!

Clueless here as well. No idea. If YOU can figure out WP, you deserve a medal.

I don’t even think the WP staff has figured it out. That’s why they keep fixing things that ain’t broken (“improved” stats page). 😉

I recently got a great email promising me my missing inheritance that had been stolen by a Nigerian prince. All I had to do was email the guy my full name, address, and social security number. What a relief that I will finally be getting the millions I’m due 🙂

LOL! You are too funny. Have you ever thought of being a comedian?

No. It’s much easier when you have time to type it into a WordPress comment.

And how do you know I wasn’t being serious? Not every offer of a million dollars from a Nigerian prince can be a scam… or can it?

I wouldn’t bet on trusting any Nigerian scammer, prince or not. Hell, he could be King of Nigeria or King of the World and I still wouldn’t trust any scam I found in my email.
