I stumbled on this story and was just gobsmacked.  Donald Trump seems to have some mysterious and bizarre connections with both Russia and Eastern Europe, but nothing surprises me anymore about this corrupt president and his administration.   The fact that this story comes from the BBC gives it credibility, in my book.  They don’t churn out “fake news.”   I’m surprised this story didn’t get more traction and I’m only hearing about it now.

Macedonia is a small landlocked country in southeast Europe.  It split off from the former Yugoslavia and established its independence in 1991, so it’s a fairly new country with a struggling economy.    Macedonia is one of the poorest European countries, but in the past few years its economy has been improving.  Still, there are young people seeking to get rich quick in a place that seems to offer them few opportunities.    Why not write fake news stories and disseminate them on right-wing websites to earn a fortune?      Most of these “fake news” stories have been traced to Veles, a small city in that country.   Most of the articles are written by kids looking to make a buck.

I wonder if someone in the Trump administration–or even Trump himself–might have paid off these Macedonian kids to write pro-Trump “news” stories? Who knows?  I wouldn’t put anything past him.    Here is the BBC article.

  1. I heard about this a while back. I don’t know if the Trump team paid them off, but it’s still part of the gaslighting: This is fake news, but we’re supposed to believe the fake news is coming from CNN etc.

    • Everything this man and his pack of goons does is gaslighting. They live in an alternate reality and condemn and attack everyone who doesn’t believe their lies or exposes them as “fake news.” But the real fake news comes from their end and the people they pay off. It’s projection.

      • Yeah, for 8 years we’ve heard Obama accused of narcissism and doing just what Trump’s been doing. I’m still scratching my head over that one. But we see somebody who’s REALLY a narcissist, who’s REALLY gaslighting, and see right through him, but get the people laughing at the “libtards” and saying the news we’re getting is “bullsh**.”

        But I get international news feeds, from countries which have nothing to do with our politics, and they sound just like the so-called “liberal” media. Their leaders are freaking out over Trump. It makes it hard for me to just say “Oh, Trump’s not so bad, we’re just overblowing everything” and go to sleep.

        • Yes, the whole world is freaking out. They cannot believe we would elect someone like him. It makes me ashamed to be an American because they are right. ITA that Obama and his supporters are eing gaslighted and accused of the very things they are doing right now. If Obama was a narcissist, he merely had narcissistic traits, as most politicians do. But he tried to do what was best for the country, not just for himself. I simply don’t understand how Trump’s supporters can’t see through something as obvious as his malignant narcissism.
