Bloggers’ block.

writers-block

Every once in a while, writer’s block strikes us bloggers.    Sometimes even the most prolific writers just run out of new ideas. If you blog, how do you handle this form of writers’ block? Do you make yourself write something anyway, post memes or pictures as a substitute, reblog your old posts (or other people’s posts), or just wait until an idea pops into your head?   How long would you allow yourself to let your blog sit idle without adding anything new?   Share your thoughts here!

  1. sometimes I use the time to go back to old poems and edit, spruce them up, I might post a great song or reblog a great post…it’s not easy!

  2. I don’t try to have something new every day. I just wait until I have something to say. Happily, I keep getting ideas. I have branched out from my Cluster B blog to a Soapbox blog and a Drugs (against war on drugs) blog. Right now I’m writing one critiquing the New Age.

  3. Sometimes, when I am too tired or if my thoughts don’t cooperate, I just have to sit down and remind myself that I don’t HAVE to post something…. I have to repeat it like a mantra… lol

  4. Please don’t hate me but, in 5 years, I have always had more ideas for posts than I have time to write them. I have a draft filled with nothing but a bunch of titles of posts I have yet to write — but I keep adding to it rather than picking from it because every time I go to write anything new I think of others.

Then again, I write brain-based “self-help” and don’t post every day, so I’m sure that’s part of it. As the ADD Poster Girl, my own life provides more than enough inspiration. 🙂

  5. I have a folder bulging with drafts. I’ll always start, but if you don’t hear from me for awhile it’s usually because I feel like I can’t come up with something “good enough” to share.
