These are the things I want to do before I die. Of course, these are subject to change and new ones will come along!
1. Write and publish a book about everything I’ve learned from growing up in a narcissistic family and being married to a narcissistic husband.
2. Write a bestselling novel or self help book based on my own experiences.
2. Be able to quit my day job and make an income from this (or another) blog.
3. Go to an exotic or remote country, preferably tropical.
4. Sing in a karaoke contest. (People say I have a decent voice but it’s one of those things I never developed)
5. Learn a musical instrument.
6. Get married again someday to a supportive, fun-loving, non-narcissistic man, who likes to travel and is good at home projects too.
7. Buy a Bengal cat.
8. Buy a small but quaint home near the ocean on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
9. Be completely self confident and at ease with myself.
10. Get over my fear of dying.
11. Redecorate my home exactly the way I want it.
12. Live for several months among people from a different culture.
13. Finally be able to give up smoking completely.
14. Drive cross country with a good friend or lover in a camper-trailer.
16. Finally be free of all my irrational fears.
17. Make a Beef Wellington.
18. Enter an art show and win a prize!
19. Do something really unconventional or eccentric in public and not worry about people thinking I’m crazy.
20. Hike the entire Appalachian Trail (Georgia to Maine; this takes about 6 months).
21. Be happy.
Now, I am going to ask something of you. I’m inviting my readers to add their own bucket lists in the comments. What would you most like to do before you die?
Reblogged this on galesmind and commented:
I like your list if you gave up smoking and saved the money you could take that trip instead. Just a thought.
Haven’t thought of a bucket list I have done a lot of the things that I wanted to. I would like to publish a book of poetry, have a big crowd at my funeral with the money going to rescues instead of flowers, Be thought of with joy for many years, touch a heart or two, Maybe share some of what I have learned along the way. Otherwise I am happy. My mantra is honey do it while everything still works. You have a bucket list start using it. Good luck and I will be first in line for that book. Start writing I am not getting any younger.

Gale,I’ll be sure to have that book out in time so you can read it. I’m no spring chicken either lol.
Your bucket list is lovely. I especially like the money at your funeral going to rescues rather than flowers–what kind of rescues?

Not particular I do love animals but if it went to help people that would be fine too. Hell I won’t be able to smell the flowers anyway and I hope that those that love me buy them for me while I can. 🙂

I love animals so I would like the idea of donations being made to animal shelters and animal welfare groups instead of buying flowers. The flowers are already dead anyway and are just going to get thrown away.

Yup I do a lot of fundraising for rescues.

Wow, you have a cool list! Not long ago, around the start of the new year, a friend told me I should start a blog, and I said I’d put it on my bucket list. Then I had to make a resolution to start a bucket list. So I did, and it had one item: start a blog. Did that. I won bucket list! Yay!

That’s awesome! I didn’t have starting a blog on any bucket list; I just woke up one day and decided to start one. There was no forethought to it at all. Now I have a blog where I am putting a bucket list, lol

Travel, specifically:
1. Walk the Great Wall
2. See the Forbidden City
3. Visit the Parthenon
4. Visit the Great Pyramids
5. See Stonehenge
6. See Vatican City
Miscellaneous:
1. Fly in a fighter jet @ Mach 2
2. Attend every sporting event final (Superbowl, World Series, etc)
3. Drive an exotic car stupidly fast
Probably more….but all I can think of right now.

If you’re going to drive stupidly fast, it must be done in an exotic car.

I’d also like to publish something… Writing, however, you can’t expect to pay the bills; few books/series become hits.

You never know until you try! I might try self publishing a book at some point, but don’t expect to become rich from that or anything. But you never know.

Redecorate my home exactly the way I want it. Get rid of my fear. Be happy. Move to an older home and fix it up the way I like it. Our home now is too modern for my taste, but I am grateful for it. Finish making a quilt. Grow a nice garden. Make sure my new grandson is happy in life regardless of the narcissism in my family. To lose 40 lbs. Go somewhere nice with my hubby, it doesn’t matter where. To learn to be more open and loving with my husband, and with my children. I do that but the fear meter goes up, so I want to deal with that. I do have a bit of the coldness of a narcissist, not that I’m cold but trained to be unfeeling in lots of ways. I want to get rid of that.

Those sound like good goals. I have that problem with coldness too. Well, not exactly coldness, but my Aspie/Avoidant tendency to have a flat affect and appear to be emotionless when I’m really anything but. I have to work on that. It’s getting easier now that I’m actually FEELING more. A year ago, i didn’t feel much of anything. I had to get rid of my narc first. I shut myself off as self protection.
