I’ve been wanting to ask…where are you getting your images from? They are all so fitting and in doing searches I don’t generally have that kind of luck.

I generally type in a phrase in my browser that’s related to a part of the story I want to illustrate or the whole story–the tornado one I just found and liked it so put it here, but for my other articles–well, here’s an example of what I do: In my article “The last seven years”–there’s a part that talks about my son leaving home–I typed “boy leaving home” or “young man leaves home” in my browser, then click on Images, and go through all the pics and select one that I think fits. I also wanted to illustrate the drug problem in my house–so I typed in “crack pipes” and found a bunch. I chose the one with the colorful quilt since it seemed to fit (my young daughter doing drugs).
For the opening picture of an article (or for shorter articles the only picture), I try to use something more general or that sums up the whole article, so for the one discussed above, I looked at images of women looking in mirrors. Sometimes cartoons and humorous pictures work too. For the last article I did, “why my parents disowned me,” I typed “my parents hate me” into the browser and then clicked on Images. I loved that little “angry girls” cartoon I found there under images. I also found the second one (the rage comic) there too, so used that as well. You just have to practice and you may have to go through a lot of pictures until you come upon one that seems to fit the story perfectly. It’s not hard but sometimes time consuming (but is also the most fun part of writing a new post!)

correction–I meant “7 more years of NPD Hell” not “The Last 7 Years” lol.
A few of the photos are my own — the suncatchers described are the actual ones I make, and the photo of the kids in the Furry article is an actual photo of my son and his friends.

another correction–I went back and looked at the article 7 More Years of NPD Hell and saw the opening photo, which isn;t the woman looking in the mirror–it’s a scene from the movie Gaslight (which fits because of the term “gaslighting.”
Did I give you too much information? lol
