Yep. It is true, unfortunately. I like the quote someone said to me recently (apparently it was something they heard on Oprah): “When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

Nature, red in claw and fang? As in there is a dark side to the vast majority of people – myself included – and it just waits for the opportunity to show? As depicted in Tolstoy’s story, “promoting a devil?” (Get people drunk, and the evil they’ve always had shows forth plainly? Give people power, and their true and inward nature shows forth as ‘corruption’ and ‘social darwinism’.)
