Well, I would say, especially in the part of the country where both Otter and I live, there are many reasons to dislike January.
It’s gloomy and cold. Mostly, though, trying to navigate up or down any of the many inclines, hills, mountains, driveways, streets, parking lots, etc. to go anywhere is just too freaking scary! Just another aspect of living in East TN/Western NC, especially for a flatlander like me, a wimpy, beachy So Cal native.
If we’re able, while we’re cooped up we try to catch up on reading or house cleaning and organizing or any number of strictly indoor pursuits. Am I right?

You pretty much got that right! Driving in these parts is VERY dangerous, and the cold here is the kind that goes through your bones. And it’s GLOOMY.

January also sucks in Australia, although I’ll bet it’s for different reasons.

Not my favourite month either I’m afraid. I love autumn and spring best

Me too. I don’t like extremes of anything.
