Lies my narcissists told me.

I’m going ahead and reblogging this article because it’s gaining some traction on the web after over 3 months of almost no attention so I figured I’d help it out. 🙂 Thanks to whoever is responsible for this.
Enjoy!

I was told many lies about myself while growing up within my my FOO (family of origin). I have no doubt this had everything to do with my developing Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Avoidant Personality Disorder (AvPD), and lifelong severe anxiety.

Why personality disorders are so difficult to cure.
Personality disorders (PD’s) are formed very early in life, normally before the age of six–which is the reason they are so hard to cure. Because the child’s personality is still in a malleable state (meaning it hasn’t fully formed) until around age 5, PD’s become an integral part of the personality and therefore can be extremely difficult to eradicate because they were formed so early the child doesn’t believe it’s a problem, just the way things are. 1. I am beginning to think that everything I was ever told by my mother was a lie. I grew up being told that we are descended from one US President and distant cousins of another US President. But when I researched my family tree a few years ago I found no connection to any Presidents.

That lie was bad enough, but when I recently had my DNA tested by ancestry (dot) com, my racial profile rvealed that I have 0% German DNA and less than a 1% trace of African DNA — but my dad’s mother was an Eisenhour (a German name) and my dad’s father was half black. So now I wonder if my dad was even my biological father.

Which brings me to my momster’s most heinous lie of all: “You are crazy just like your father!” What an evil thing to tell a little child!

    • It’s incredible the lies they tell. They tell lies even when there’s no need to. They start to believe their own lies too. Someone (I forgot who) said narcissists are batshit crazy because they believe their own lies. They live in fantasy land and are really very out of touch with reality.
I agree that is a terrible thing to tell a child.
