The official estimate of people with NPD is 1%. I bet it’s really much higher because that figure only counts narcissists who have been officially diagnosed.
But let’s just use that 1% for now. If there are 7 billion people in the world, that means there are 70 million narcs walking on earth.
That’s really scary.

…the horror…THE. HORROR.

Wait… I think the math on that figure may be off by a decimal point. I could very well be wrong, though. Mathematics is not my strong point.
Check out this world population clock, if you want to see something scary:

Jeez, apparently grammar isn’t my strong point, either: “Mathematics IS” — that probably ought to say Mathematics ARE….”
Sometimes life is just too hard, with all the grammar rules and math formulas….

You are right. I’m bad with numbers that large, so I googled it– it should be 70 million so I added an extra zero. Better than 700 million but it’s still a damn lot of narcs.

So you corrected the number, I see. I was sort of hoping you would just delete this post and then all my messed up comments would disappear. 😉

According to the world population clock, there is birth every 8 seconds, on average. If people with NPD really do comprise 1% of the population, that means we get another narcissist with every 100 births. That me, if my less than average math skills are correct, that a new narcissist is forever 13.333 minutes.
Hey, maybe there’s something to that unlucky #13 superstition.

Eek I meant to say there is 1 birth every 8 seconds. I need to proof before I post.

Ok I just went back and reread my other comments here…. and my tablet has apparently been typing stuff I did not type. Spell correct is incorrect. It was supposed to say a new narcissist is born every 13.333 minutes… not forever!

There are people with different degrees of narcissism, going from very little to very much… so while it might feel right in a seductive way, stating some flat percentage of narcissists vs. nonnarcissists is arbitrary and inaccurate.
I also see that you didn’t have a response to my last comment at the end of this discussion –
It’s rare to see you left speechless!

I don’t even think 1% is right because most narcissists are never diagnosed.
But anyway, no I wasn’t ignoring your comment, I just found it now because you pointed it out. I never saw it before. Let me read it and then reply.
