I’m not usually a big fan of CCM (Christian Contemporary) music, but my work partner listens to it, and I remember hearing this song in her car all the time a few months ago. It was a pretty big hit from what I remember. Sure, the song’s a little cheesy, but Danny Gokey has an amazing voice and his message is uplifting instead of bashing you over the head with religion. You don’t even have to be Christian to get something from it. If I’m down in the dumps, listening to this is an instant mood booster and reminds me there is always hope.
I used the lyric video so you can read the words.
I am told that playing music, painting, writing and typing and various forms of art are therapeutic and fights depression.

I play music constantly. I can’t imagine living without it. I don’t really have a favorite genre or time period–I like all good music. I don’t understand people who don’t listen to music–they must be so dead inside. Writing and music are the two things that keep me sane. Art too, but to a lesser extent. I’m addicted to Deviantart and use a lot of stuff I find there for my blog posts.

Thank you for this. I was in a very foul hopeless mood and this lifted me (at least partly) out of it. I too have trouble enjoying CCM music, overall, although every once in a while there will be something really uplifting to my soul.

I like this one because it’s religious message is less obvious, but it’s still there. “Hope” could be Jesus, God, or just plain hope itself if you’re atheist or agnostic. I remember seeing this guy on American Idol — he was good. (he didn’t win).
I’m glad it made your day a little better. I get depressed easily and it helps lift my mood too.
