I found this yesterday and it really gave me hope for mankind. A restaurant owner in Oklahoma put this sign on his door. Some people still care.
Why don’t things like this make big news instead of all the stories about hate crimes, war and and murder?

I felt choked up too reading about this. I wonder why reading about kindness always brings tears?

Maybe because tears connect us to each other and stories like this remind us that we all need each other.

I love the quote the says “We may not be able to help everyone, but all of us can at least help someone.” This made me think of that quote and I really wish more people would think like this business owner does.

I do too.
If even half of us helped just one person a day (each person helping a different person), everyone would be helped and life would be better for everyone on the planet. Do the math.

That’s so awesome. Kudos to the owner. We could use more like them.

This is beautiful. God bless that restaurant owner.
Right now I needed a reminded of the goodness in humanity, because — you know the Jade Helm military training exercises that are going on in certain parts of the country right now, including where I live? With the exception of two long trains that I saw several weeks ago loaded with tanks and other military equipment, I haven’t seen or experienced anything out of the ordinary, until last night and all day today, when something seems to be jamming my cell phone, my husband’s cell phone, and my stepdaughter’s cell phone.
My husband contacted our carrier, T-Mobile, and was told that our cell service here has no known problems, and therefore our phones should be working just fine, unless there is something wrong with our phones. But how could all three of our phones go bad at the same time? Even so, we restarted our phones, and even took out the sim card and reseated it — and by the way, my stepdaughter has an entirely different phone carrier than we have — and still none of our phones will call out, nor send a text, nor receive any calls or texts — even though all of our phones show that we have 4 or 5 bars, which is what we normally have here at our house.
Weirdly, our next door neighbor says his cell phone is working the same as always.
According to the paranoid conspiracy theorists, the jamming of cell phones is part of the evil plot to do….. whatever it is that the unknown evil plotters are supposed to be trying to do.
I dunno. I just want to be able to call and text my kids, ya know?

When I was trapped living in a car with my abusive ex after our 4th eviction (because of him), there was a convenience store owner who used to let us come in and use his microwave to cook noodle cups and frozen dinners, etc food pantries had given us. He also let us take ice from the fountain machine (it was summer) and when we were able to buy things, sometimes he discounted it and threw in extra things. A few times he even fronted five or ten here and there for gas when we were really stuck.
Too many people really don’t care. They don’t feel someone else’s struggles are their problem. Every so often you come across to someone who takes those struggles personally and actually does something about it – and avoids handing out lectures about circumstances on top of it.
There were not many bright spots, if any, during that point in my life. The owner of the convenience store was probably the brightest of them.

People like that convenience store owner are the rare angels among us. If only there were more, but their rarity does make you really appreciate their generosity.
