My daughter injured her back in 2007 (she fell off the second floor deck of our house) and has had back problems ever since.
Yesterday her back started to become very painful and she could barely move. Today she reports she has tingling in her legs. She is on her way to the hospital where they will be testing to see what’s wrong.
Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks.
ETA: I just found this online, which explains what may be causing the leg tingling. It’s a condition called sciatica and has several causes. I believe it’s due to her injury and yesterday she did say she strained her back attempting to pick up a heavy box.

Sciatica
Sciatica refers to pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by injury to or pressure on the sciatic nerve. Sciatica is a symptom of another medical problem. It is not a medical condition on its own.Causes
Sciatica occurs when there is pressure or damage to the sciatic nerve. This nerve starts in the lower back and runs down the back of each leg. This nerve controls the muscles of the back of the knee and lower leg. It also provides sensation to the back of the thigh, part of the lower leg, and the sole of the foot.Common causes of sciatica include:
Slipped disk
Spinal stenosis
Piriformis syndrome (a pain disorder involving the narrow muscle in the buttocks)
Pelvic injury or fracture [I’m guessing this is the cause]
TumorsSymptoms
Sciatica pain can vary widely. It may feel like a mild tingling, dull ache, or burning sensation. In some cases, the pain is severe enough to make a person unable to move. The pain most often occurs on one side. Some people have sharp pain in one part of the leg or hip and numbness in other parts. The pain or numbness may also be felt on the back of the calf or on the sole of the foot. The affected leg may feel weak. Sometimes, your foot gets caught on the ground when walking.
She just texted me this from the hospital. These are all the tests they will be running and how long they will take.

I can definitely pray for her. My own daughter Amy threw her back out yesterday as well. Hopefully they both feel better soon!

Praying. Nothing hurts worse than when your child is hurting, adult or not.

I hope it is only a pinched nerve or something they can fix without too much pain. It must be excruciating. Prayers said.

Ouch! I had sciatica hit me HARD nearly 3 years ago. The pain can be EXCRUCIATING…like a lightning bolt shooting down the leg-put me into a wheelchair at times (because of course, I kept on working). Mine was a bulging disc from an “accident”, and surgery took care of it. I hope there is a great solution to help with your daughter’s pain! Be so VERY NICE to her…..(I know you are) It Hurts!!!!!

Yeah….she is home now, but we never got to go out today 😦 I’m glad she’s alright though. They gave her a rx for steroids 😮

Praying for your sweet daughter. I know her pain. I have 4 herniated discs and spinal stenosis, so I really feel her pain as well. Rest, heat (or ice). Appropriate rehab. If they can do a minimally invasive micro-decompression, go for it . Do not let them fuse her spine, though. In most cases, once they reduce inflammation and take care of her pain, she will get better. It will reoccur if she continues to stress her back. Prayers for her and you. Sending hugs your way, too.

She will eventually need surgery. For now they put her on steroids. That scares me a little, not everyone reacts well to them. She needs to stop doing things that keep straining her back though–like lifting heavy things. She’s also using some rub on remedies and compresses.

Hope she’s better soon. Is she getting injections of steroids? They’re safe. They gave me the pills and I ended up with cataracts in my 40s. Tell her to take care.

I think they are pills. I will. That sucks about getting cataracts so young. 😦 Steroids are nothing to f*ck around with.

yes, but the amazing thing is that, after being nearly blind from nearsightedness since age 10, I suddenly had 20-20 vision! Yippee! Now just cheap reading glasses. Proof that God blesses us in the midst of our suffering.

Based on your description of her symptoms, it sound like herniated discs. I have had them and they are excruciating. The only good thing about them is that they sometimes heal spontaneously (mine did, although it took a while). My neurologist recommended physical therapy and massage therapy, which seemed to help the process along.

You’re welcome, I also encourage you to thank Jesus, because your daughter is going to be healed I truly believe this!!!
Matthew 17:20
He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
Praise God because all it takes is a mustard size seed of faith to start to believe with and mountains can be moved NOTHING is impossible for our Lord and Savior… Oh how encouraging… 🙂 The scripture is not talking about of ye of little faith or lack of. NO! the scripture is encouraging us (mankind) that if it’s your first time believing with faith then all it takes is a small step of faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed…
I personally don’t know anyones faith level nor is that my business I posted the scripture and translation for encouragement that it doesn’t take much faith to heal her back and how awesome is that!!!
