Rules

I have very few rules for people who want to comment on this blog. I believe in open discussions where people feel free to post differing opinions, even if they disagree with mine. This is a good thing because it can make for lively conversation and debate.

The rules are meant to make this blog the haven it’s supposed to be–a place where survivors of narcissistic abuse can post and feel comfortable and supported. Certain types of comments or troll posts are very triggering to survivors and will take this blog places I don’t want it to go. I have seen this type of thing happen too often, especially on forums.

Here are the rules:

1. Profanity is okay, but please use it sparingly, if at all. A well placed expletive can give a post greater impact, but please don’t overdo it.

2. I will not tolerate any abusive or trollish comments toward me, this blog, victims of abuse in general, or other commenters. If you disagree with something, that’s not abusive or being a troll. Narcissism isn’t an exact science and there are going to be disagreements. That’s okay. But any namecalling or attacking or trolling of other commenters will not be tolerated and those comments will either not be approved or will be deleted if they show up.

3. Narcissists are allowed to post here. Yes, I did just say that.
I know some other blogs focusing on victims of narcissistic abuse won’t allow narcissists to post at all, but I disagree with handling things that way, because sometimes they have things to teach us and help us to understand the way they think better. I have had a couple of narcissists comment on this blog and their posts have been very civil and informative. One even expressed a genuine desire for help. All that is fine and makes this blog more interesting, in my opinion. So I will approve any comment by a narcissist as long as they keep their comments civil and do not resort to trolling or attacking others.

4. Spam will be carefully reviewed, which is why I don’t let Akismet automatically delete it. All spam goes into my spam folder so I can review it. If you write a post with more than 2-3 links in it, it automatically goes into my spam folder. Every day I review my spam, and “unspam” anything that really isn’t spam. It’s happened a few times.

5. If you have a problem with another commenter or any other issues you don’t want to discuss in public, you are free to contact me–there’s a tab in my header that will give you that information. Anything you tell me will remain confidential.

Other than that, I really have no other rules.

Blessings!

  1. Lauren, did I inadvertently break a rule? I didn’t mean to if I did, I apologize if so. I am going to have to take some time off so I’m alive when Lia dominos in less than a month. Anyway, I had to come face you because you are an inspiration

      • Thanks for that. It’s Lucky Otter’s Haven, and the last post was on the 12th so, guessing its still active. Must have been looking at an old post. Thanks anyway. Keep up the good work.

        • Some of my posts are cross posted on both sites. But my other blog (which I don’t promote anymore) hasn’t been active since April so I had to disable comments on that one. I leave it up anyway for people who may stumble on it and find it helpful, but have no interest in adding anything new to it.
