Here’s a Fun Fact about me:
I’ve always loved to look at photos of the inside of other people’s refrigerators. I have an unhealthy curiosity about the contents of other people’s fridges. But it has to be a picture, because in a picture I can sit in the privacy of my own home, silently admiring or judging the kinds of food I see there without people thinking I’m weird or want their food (because usually, I don’t).
My son just received his work bonus and tweeted the above photo of his newly full fridge (you can actually click on it to make it bigger).
This made me far happier than it should have, because even if he was just some random person and not my son, that photo would have still made me happy. I just really like looking at photos of the contents of people’s fridges.
As his somewhat overprotective mom, I’m also relieved to see his eating habits seem pretty healthy, based on what I can see there (maybe he hides all the junk food in a different fridge, or in the cabinets). It looks pretty well organized to me. He also apparently likes pickles (which I do not).
I guess you could say I’m a tad on the eccentric side, but without our little eccentricities, the world sure would be a boring place.
I’d post a picture of my own half-empty fridge, but the light in it is out. When I get it replaced (and go food shopping), I promise I’ll post a picture. It’s also dirty so I have to clean it.
Maybe — and I say this in half-seriousness — I will start another blog all that just shows pictures of the insides of people’s refrigerators, and think up funny or snarky captions for them. I think there might be demand out there for such a blog, if one doesn’t already exist.
LOL I love this 🙂 I think we all have some special sides of us that make us unique, and this interest in people’s fridges really made me smile! I wouldn’t dare to put a picture of the inside of mine online, not because of its content, but my bf is the worst fridge stuffer, and sometimes, I wonder if he maybe has just thrown everything in, when he came back from the grocery store 😛 If I rearrange it, and I am happy with the result, I’ll make sure to post a picture, just for the fun of having you check it/ judge its content 😛 Promise! LOL

I knew this kind of post would tickle your funny bone! I’m serious about starting a fridge blog — I’d ask people to send me their photos. ANother reason I wouldn’t want to post a picture of mine right now (besides the non-working light) is because it’s filthy. I’d need to clean it first.

Well, if you start that, I’ll arrange to make mine presentable, and you can be sure I’ll be one of your first participants!! I’ll even open the freezer’s door for you!! 😉

Well, if my one contribution to society is getting people to make their fridges more presentable and their food choices healthier, then I guess that’s something, right? LOL

Hey! there’s no little victory!! Making the world better, a fridge at a time! I’d be proud of myself if I were you!! 🙂 LOL

Thanks for the giggle. Of course, now I’m thinking about my refrigerator and what somebody might think of it. Its not loaded up, mainly because I go to the grocery store every day, and food shop every second or third day (Its the only place in town that sells the New York Times.) I do think that blog sounds fun. Will I take a picture of my fridge? IDK

Go ahead and take a photo! I might feature it on my new blog (I really think I might do it!)

I might have to clean a bit in there first.

Same here, I HATE cleaning my fridge though.
Yuck.

Me too, but once in a great while it must be done.

I might wait until it’s really empty and then pressure wash the whole inside of it, therefore never having to touch any sticky, slimy mystery substances, especially those that tend to accumulate at the bottom under the crispers. 😉

OMG! I forgot about under the crispers – scary. LOL

I love that your son can afford to fill his fridge, and saddened it took a bonus to do it. It is sad that in our country people do have problems getting enough to eat. Today Ron and I went shopping for groceries again. Last week it cost me 365 dollars for groceries. Plus there was a few things I missed. Today’s cost was $309. The good news is we can afford to buy groceries, the bad news is we price shop to keep costs down. My whole point is we can afford to eat in today’s economy, but far too many can not. And with the current political climate I simply don’t know how to fix this very large problem. Hugs

Yes, it was fortunate about the bonus allowing him to buy that much (and high quality) food. Usually he can’t afford to fill his fridge. Who can anymore? It’s outrageous how expensive groceries are now, isn’t it? $5.00 for a gallon of milk, ffs! No wonder so many people eat junk and fast food, which is cheaper and filling, or load themselves up with carbs because they’re also cheap and filling. No wonder Americans’ health is so terrible, and nothing gets done about it except experts lecturing people to eat better instead of making good food more affordable.
If you have an ALDI near you, you can get good food at MUCH lower prices. They don’t advertise, no fancy displays, have very little overhead. I think they used to only accept cash and debit cards, they may accept credit cards now though. Their selection is more limited, but basically you can find anything you need (except fresh meat). Their own brands are every bit as good as the name brands. I saved a lot of $ when I used to shop there, but since I no longer live near an ALDI, I don’t go there anymore. I probably should though.

When I first go home from the Army, I got my own place. Between the mortgage and the new truck payment my budget for food was often simply eggs, hot dogs and tomato sauce for pasta. I grew older and better able to feed myself and , but sadly wages have not kept price for what things cost. It seems the older i get the harder it is. We use can good stores like save a lot. But still it seems we age it gets harder to maintain the level of lifestyle we had.

I am so embarrassed! I forgot the other night, but will do this tonight or tomorrow at the latest. I hope to write a short post promoting it too. BTW, congratulations on your new blog! I enjoyed your older one, but understand it was not relevant any more to your current situation.

Thanks Lucky. I want you to know that I found your blog during a very dark period of my life. Narcs were after me! Finding you and Katie and LindaLee and Prairie Girl was such a blessing. I miss the group of us girls. I wish they were around. What it seems to be is narcs were gangstalking me. I started to go broke from one disaster after another and when my family sent me money, I thought I would try asking, and they did, I realized they werent behind it. It seems to have all stopped for the past almost 2 years now but went on for a total of 10 years. If nothing else, I am tired.

I miss those days too, Ruby, and I’m sorry you had to go through that. Gangstalking is no joke! Glad you got through that & that my blog helped you! Hugs.

Hi Ruby, I just put the name of your blog in my browser but all that comes up is a page that says the site is not registered. (???) I also did a Google search to see if I could find it that way, but nothing comes up. Do you have this set to private? If you can provide an actual link to it instead of just a URL, maybe I can find it.

Hi, I have limited computer skills. I dont know about registering a site, I thought it was free. It isnt set to private, that I was able to tell, it says public under privacy. How can I send you a link? Can you talk me through it?

I’m not too technologically literate either. Sounds like you may have a wordpress.org site, since it’s on wordpress.com it should show up. Are you self hosted?

My suggestion is go to the wordpress.com help forums (you can Google it) and ask the community or I think there is a section where you can request a “happiness engineer” to help you. Sorry I can’t be more helpful, but that’s what I would do.

Thanks Lucky, thanks for your help. This is frustrating for sure.

Ok I remembered something. I never did something in an email from wordpress that it asked me to do. That might be the registering part. I did what was asked and hope you can see it now. Would it be too narcissistic of me, lol, to ask you to try it one more time, see if you can see it now?

I tried it again. Here is the message I got: singleandondisability.wordpress.com doesn’t exist
Do you want to register singleandondisability.wordpress.com? I would go to the help forums if I were you.
You can post a question to the public, or if you don’t want to wait, there is a section where you can type in your problem and get individual help.

Thanks:) Can you check tomorrow? Maybe it’s a waiting thing. I only just did the emails command within the last hour. Maybe tomorrow it will show.

The idea for the fridge pictures blog really does sound great. I just hope your son actually gets to eat this food before it goes bad. When my fridge is low on its content I tend to freak out and then go shopping with this idea of cooking all these fantastic meals. And then I don’t. And the food goes bad… I feel terrible about it and am definitely working on not having this happen.

Im sorry, I caught a mistake I was making. The title of my blog is actually Single And On Disability Blog. I had left out the word “blog” in the title I gave you. So its really singleandondisabilityblog.wordpress.com. I dont know if this will help.

Okay, that worked. I have it bookmarked and am following you now. I’ll get back to you more about this tomorrow. Thanks for letting me know about it.

I keep writing new posts and none of them get any hits. Maybe a different title of the blog(If we are allowed to change the title), Single and Retired? Alone on a Low Income?
