Although it’s not official yet, Trump is the projected winner.
I have never been so ashamed of my country as I am right now. I thought maybe…just maybe…the tides were turning and people wouldn’t be swayed by this egotistical, dangerous, racist, sexist, homophobic narcissistic freak. I apologize for my harsh words if you voted for him, and hold nothing against you personally, but that’s how I feel right now. I don’t understand why or how this happened. I’m saddened and shocked and angry beyond belief. I feel like I’m in a nightmare that won’t end, and there’s no escape. I read that the website for immigration to Canada crashed because of the volume of hits tonight. I wish I could be one of those people with the means to leave this once-great country because there is nothing left as far as I’m concerned. It’s heartbreaking to see its long fall from the land of opportunity and freedom it used to be.
He has the potential to do untold damage to a country that is already in deep, deep trouble, not to mention the millions of women, blacks, Hispanics, Muslim-Americans, and anyone else who is vulnerable. I’m very scared. I know many of you are too.
Suicide hotlines are actually being shared on social media right now, because a lot of people want to kill themselves with Trump as president elect.
On the bright side, California has legalized pot. They’re going to need it. Pardon the gallows humor, but yeah.
That’s all I have to say right now. So, try to get a good night’s sleep and I’ll see you tomorrow.
I’m sorry for writing such a negative post, but I am just…astounded.
One last thing. I will never, ever, refer to this freak as President.
I’m without words right now, stunned! I see now how Nazi Germany evolved, ignorance and fear.

Pingback: Reblog: Lucky Otter: "So. Trump Won." - Nyssa's Hobbit Hole
Reblogged with this note:
I hope that checks and balances will keep us away from nuclear war with the rest of the world, but with a Republican House and Senate, I have little hope for anything else. Remember all these wonderful gains we’ve had in civil and other rights the last few years? Yeah, prepare to see it all go away. Along with any respect from the rest of the world. Keep in mind that Russia seems to have wanted Trump president so they could keep him under their thumb.

You know what? That wall Trump wants to build? I don’t think he’ll have to worry about Mexicans jumping the border into the US, I think it’s more likely people here will be trying to flee to Mexico, which is looking better and better in comparison. We’re going the way of the Roman Empire, another great nation that fell under its own hubris, greed and narcissism. And that one lasted longer than this one did. I don’t think there’s enough checks and balances anymore either. We’ll see. He’s completely unqualified and maybe he won’t be able to get anything done and will just be another one term president.

So… the Whitehouse is for sale and the one with the deepest pockets bought it.
I voted Libertarian for the first time in my life. In a state where Clinton won.
Well, the good news is that it’s only four years. Not the rest of his life, like it is for royalty. Meanwhile, I am clinging to what Christ said: “In the world you will have tribulations. But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Good advice, I’ll remember that. I am so bummed out right now. 😦

My granddaughter, the one in Harvard, is engaged to a fellow Harvard student, an American whose family is from Pakistan. She posted on her FB wall a few hours ago that she hoped Clinton would win, because when she and her fiancee are walking down the sidewalk, in a predominantly Democratic area, people will yell “Arab go home!” and chant “Trump! Trump! Trump!” at them. I am worried for them. My granddaughter sent me a text when it came out that Trump apparently won: “That is so sad” she said.
I am reminding her, too, it’s not like he was elected king. But… I am praying for their safety. I wouldn’t be surprised if they move out of the country after they graduate.

That is terrible. I will pray too. I wouldn’t blame the for moving out of the country. It’s not a good place for most people to live anymore. And I’m not ashamed to say it either.

Just over in Madison–the ultra-liberal part of our state–people are going to games with Obama masks and nooses around their necks. Yet when blacks say there is still racism in this area, they’re treated like they’re making it all up.

Oh, yeah, and a college kid got killed recently. Last I heard, they suspect it was because he was Arabic.

to be ashamed of the country, in my opinion, includes shame for the 50% that voted for Clinton. personally, i’m still proud of a country that allows all citizens to vote. i just hope we haven’t become so divided we can never become whole.

Great post. I’m wondering how long the shock will last. I hope it’s a while because I believe it’s masking much of my pain.

Ok, I hope everybody reading this is tolerant towards people whose thoughts and opinions differ from their own…
I think we should give him a chance, as flawed as he is. It’s in everybody’s best interest that he realize the gravity of his position, settle down, and bring us together. It’s possible he could realize the weight of it and just do the right thing- I hope so. I hope he does well.
And God is still in control, this didn’t catch him by surprise.
I think there IS some hope for his presidency because he IS very driven to succeed at whatever he does, and he IS willing to compromise / “deal” (The Art of the Deal) with others, and he’s not a strict idealogue. Perhaps he could unite us more than we think- or at least get some good things done more than we think.
If he goes berzerk and starts to try to round people up on a mass scale or does something else crazy, the democrats and enough republicans will not hesitate to impeach him. They don’t much like him and it’s their right to impeach him for any reason, it’s just a vote.
Lot’s of good leaders have been very narcissistic; JFK, FDR, Bill Clinton, Winston Churchill and others:
http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2013/11/14/the-most-narcissistic-u-s-presidents/
If he IS really malignant and vindictive, that would of course be bad. And there is some evidence of that. Hopefully he’s just defensive about his small hands and the like, and can get past that.
We’ll see.

Sorry you’re so bummed out about it.
It sucks to feel like your county has lost its compass and is hurtling in the wrong direction. It’s like your not at home in your own country.
I guess we should realize it’s always been God’s creation and always will be and he does have a good plan no matter what’s going on.

At the moment it hasn’t started, January will see him sworn in but don’t be surprised when elections are outlawed, senate and representatives sent packing because they stop him from playing with his wall. Adolf is back but this time he has nukes to play with. Stand by for Russia and America standing side by side against every other country.

I know what you mean, his rhetoric was very mindful of 1930’s Germany and even the Germans don’t know whether he will work with or against others.

In some places I read that he made Germans nervous during the campaign because he reminded them of Hitler. In other places (such as Youtube comments) I found a more diverse point of view of what Germans think about him. But in any case, I read here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_reactions_to_the_United_States_presidential_election,_2016#Europe that the German leaders are concerned about his anger issues. I read that Merkel’s congratulations “were widely seen in Germany as a rebuke to Trump’s rhetoric during the election campaign.” http://www.kake.com/story/33684850/the-latest-eu-official-trump-risk-to-europe-us-relations
It’s interesting reading the comments of our allies when you get past the usual diplomatic congratulations. Japan says it’s already paying quite enough to have our troops there. The former head of the British spy agency is afraid that Trump’s quick temper will lead us into nuclear war. Then there’s Iran, not an ally but says it expects us to honor our agreement with them.

If Trump wants to alienate everyone who isn’t American born he’s going about it right. But the First Lady when he takes office was an illegal immigrant to the USA until they’d been married a year. Another interesting facet of that wedding was two of the guests were the Clintons.

I have no idea either. There’s already rioting breaking out in cities like Baltimore because people are so angry. This is gonna be bad. i hate to sound so negative. I still haven’t got over my sadness and shock over this.

We’re with you. Rioting isn’t the answer but I can see the frustration that lead to it. For the second time in recent memory a Replublican candidate polled fewer votes but still became President. Time for a change but not Trump? People who voted for him need to remember how racist, misogynistic and sexist his ticket is. He made no secret of wanting to remove the Hispanics who were born in the US unless they’re parents were there legally. Build a wall along the Mexican border (on whose side of the Rio Grande?) and not pay for it. Anyone working on that wall won’t get paid, so let’s see how quickly it gets done.
On a lighter note, before Hitler was elected he promised to make Germany great again, and succeeded before going mad and starting the Second World War.

My thoughts exactly. In fact, wasn’t his campaign slogan “Make Germany Great Again”?
Heh. He won’t need that wall. No Mexicans will want to be here now, with him in charge. The ones already here will be jumping back over that wall.

I checked into that and he doesn’t seem to have used that phrase. However, making Germany strong again was a crucial point, regaining its place among the world powers.

Regarding ‘wall construction’:
Article 58 -> gulag prisoners as forced laborers.
So what (according to Dugashvili) if some die. The secret-state-police / committee of state security will be issued larger quotas, and the ranks of ‘zeks’ will be replenished in good time.
“Hands behind the back! March!” (Gulag archipelago)
