Ominous clouds.

For awhile it looked a bit threatening, but nothing happened and soon the hot sun was back out. It’s been like this all day, as if the weather has Borderline Personality Disorder.

  1. Lauren!! I was reading through some old posts on Pastor Dave’s Grace for the heart blog just now and I came across a Bible verse that — in so many words — talks about people with Narcissism and advises going No Contact! Here is that verse:

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (New International Version)
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God — having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

    !!!

I realize this comment doesn’t exactly go with your storm cloud picture but I could not wait to share it with you!

    • I’ve seen the Timothy verse– think it’s possible this Bible prophecy could be true. It certainly does seem to fit the state of the world of late. I just don’t know. But I appreciate you sharing this because it adds another dimension to this horrific attitude of victim blaming that’s become so popular.

I love Pastor Dave’s site–in fact it’s in my list of favorite blogs– every Friday is “Narcissist Friday” and he writes posts about NPD and they’re awesome. I like the fact they’re not over the top religious either, but still recognize the spiritual element that’s involved in this disorder. I try to never miss his Narcissist Friday posts!

      • I found his blog through you, so thank you for that.

I know I have read this verse in other translations, but it never hit me, until I read the NIV version today, that it is basically talking about people with malignant narcissistic personality disorder, and advising us to go No Contact with such people. Amazing!

By the way, it wasn’t Pastor Dave who brought up this verse, but one of his commenters on a post he wrote a couple of years ago. Although Dave may have also mentioned it elsewhere on his site, for all I know.

        • Oh, I know it probably wasn’t him. He may have, though! I really like his balanced viewpoint and attitude about people with NPD. He affords himself some compassion for their disorder and doesn’t preach hate (because they were almost always abused as children) but at the same time urges the rest of us to go No Contact and he does not condone the things they do, so his attitude is very similar to mine and I find that refreshing.
