Anti-bullying public service ad in the sidebar.

This is now in the sidebar.

This is a bully free blog. I allow dissenting opinions, of course, but trollish or abusive comments from bullies and trolls won’t be allowed (and have never been allowed). Every day I go through my comments folder, and sometimes I come across these comments. I can check IP addresses and take screenshots if I want. But I’ve never had a reason to, and hopefully never will. So abusive comments do not normally get approved and get sent to Trash. Fortunately I haven’t had too many. If an abusive comment shows up without my having to approve it (normally this happens if it’s someone who has commented before), it will be deleted and sent to Spam or (possibly) approved and called out.

Anti-bullying is a thing these days, and I’m glad it finally is. Bullying was never taken seriously when I was a child and teenager. In fact, the bullied victims like myself (even girls!) were
likely to be blamed for “not fighting back” or harshly ordered to “let ’em have it,” etc. And of course, no one believed us anyway, because the bullies had turned everyone against us and used their flying monkeys to back up their bogus “I’m such an innocent angel” act in the Principal’s office.

Most of us learned The Golden Rule in kindgerdarten, but fewer of us internalize that rule as adults and treat each other with respect. Bullying isn’t just something kids do on the playground; it’s something that happens between grown-ups online, in the office, in the church, and at home. It happens even among family members if they have chosen a scapegoat. Bullying affects all of us and is one of the greatest evils of our age.

Because this is a blog about narcissism (largely, anyway) and narcissists and bullies are so often one and the same, I decided to link to the government’s website against bullying. There’s an image in the sidebar you can click on to get information or get involved.
You can visit their site at http://www.stopbullying.gov/respond/be-more-than-a-bystander?gclid=CJ2yubGKwMYCFQyoaQodEN0M2A

No more bullying! Let’s respect each other and remember The Golden Rule.

Peace,
Lauren

  1. I don’t know how bullies can stand to look at themselves in the mirror. I was bullied when I was in junior high school, which definitely contributed to the breakdown I had at age 14. Back in those days none of the adults seemed to notice or care when kids were being bullied.

One of the last bike rides I went on before my husband totaled our motorcycle last year, was a Bikers Against Bullies rally. Our district won a prize for the largest turnout of bikers in the entire country. We started at a middle school and rode all over town waving our Bikers Against Bullies flags, before ending near a high school. It was awesome!

        • Oops my touchscreen got away from me. As I was saying, I took the bike riding picture I used to have as my Twitter banner on that ride.

            • OK, I will post it on my blog later today probably. That picture doesn’t show the flags and banners unfortunately, it is just a picture I took while riding behind my husband, surrounded by bikes in the middle of the procession. I like it because part of my husband’s leather jacket and helmet can be seen, as well as my reflection with the camera in the bike’s side mirror.

Sigh… I miss our rides. But my husband is diabetic and at 66 he simply doesn’t have the good health, reflexes and balance one needs to ride safely . He was in the hospital for 13 days and almost lost his leg. I never want to go through that again.

            • Sorry I haven’t found the the time yet to post the picture, things have been crazy here lately… or is it me that has been crazy? 🙂

            • Lol I know the feeling 🙂 Just if ever you do, then good. And if never that that’s fine too. Was just curious plus it sounds like a great photo. xo

            • Thanks for understanding. I just spent over four hours on the phone talking with my stepdaughter. Three hours day before yesterday. Five minutes on the phone tires me out — this is exhausting. But when one of the kids are in crisis, I can’t say no. Maybe my head will be together enough tomorrow…. ZzzZzzZzzzzz

            • I understand. I sort of know the allotment of emo energy I have to use at the start of my day, and when it goes over/takes more, I’m pretty much depleted, and down for the count. xo

            • Ugh, I experienced that today. My job exhausts me. The necessity of paying bills and having a roof over my head sometimes takes so much out of me I have no energy left to do the things I really want to do, like write or even respond to comments.
I came home and took a “nap” and didn’t wake up until 2 AM . I’m going to put up a short post though now.

  2. No wonder you can relate to Opionated Man’s post. You wear your victimhood like a trophy. We get it. You think you are a victim of bullying. What happened to ignoring your “haters”? Seems like you are feeding into it.

  3. Cush shouldn’t just be legal, it should be mandatory for certain citizens. Cool all that inflammation they suffer from. Poor things ….not that I do drugs. No. Lol.
